Easypaisa Bank Limited
In short: Easypaisa is no longer just a mobile wallet. Telenor Microfinance Bank became Easypaisa Bank Limited, and on 28 January 2025 it received Pakistan's first commercial digital retail bank licence from the State Bank of Pakistan; since March 2025 it has been a scheduled bank. It is owned 55% by Telenor and 45% by Ant Group's Alipay. At the end of 2025 it had more than 59 million registered users, 20 million of them active each month, and Rs 127.7 billion of deposits. Savings earn daily profit in balance tiers from 7% to 14% a year, and transfers to other banks carry no Easypaisa fee.

Because it already had a large customer base, the SBP let Easypaisa skip the pilot phase that other digital banks must go through and start full commercial operations straight away. Between 2018 and 2024 its two shareholders put in about USD 319 million of capital. In June 2026 media reported that Telenor was exploring a sale of its 55% stake; nothing had been agreed at the time of writing. With Ant International's WorldFirst, freelancers and exporters can receive payments from more than 100 countries into an Easypaisa account with an IBAN.

Read the 2025 profit with care: most of the jump to Rs 17 billion came from recognising a one-off deferred tax benefit from past losses, so the underlying operating profit is far smaller. Our own reading of the balance sheet: Easypaisa lends only about Rs 20 of every Rs 100 it holds in deposits, and almost all deposits are cheap current and savings balances. The rest goes into government securities, which nearly doubled to Rs 113 billion. The sharp fall in bad loans came mainly from writing off Rs 8 billion of old loans in 2025, not from customers suddenly repaying.
As of July 2026, PACRA upgraded Easypaisa Bank's long-term rating to AA- with short-term A1 and a stable outlook, after an upgrade to A+ in April 2025. This is a fact about the bank itself rather than about your card, but it matters if you keep deposits above the protection level or compare savings tiers across banks. The rating covers the institution, not the products, so it is no substitute for checking the fee schedule and the savings table before you commit larger balances.
On deposits, the financial statements show customers held Rs 127.66 billion in customer deposits at 31 December 2025, with branchless banking deposits making up Rs 122.8 billion of that total. Current and savings balances were about 97.8% of deposits at the same date, which is the reason the bank can pay daily profit on savings tiers and still fund itself cheaply. For card users, this means the balance behind your debit card sits in a low-cost pool that is mostly lent to the government through investments of Rs 113.27 billion at 31 December 2025, not to borrowers. Keep a smaller working balance on the card and place larger sums only where the tier rate and the protection limit suit you; our digital payments in Pakistan guide explains how card and wallet balances differ in practice.
Accounts, limits and savings
An Easypaisa account starts at a basic level and is upgraded by CNIC verification and then biometric verification at an agent. Since the SBP's onboarding framework of July 2025, biometric verification is the main requirement for digital accounts and wallets, and the old grace period has gone. Fully verified accounts can typically move up to Rs 50,000 a day and Rs 200,000 or more a month, and since November 2025 eligible accounts can receive up to Rs 3 million a month. In the app you can set lower daily limits yourself, a useful protection against fraud. The Asaan Digital Account adds an IBAN for salary and remittances and free cash deposits and withdrawals at Easypaisa branches.
| Savings tier | Balance | Profit per year, paid daily |
|---|---|---|
| Simple | up to Rs 2,000 | none |
| Silver | Rs 2,000 to 4,999 | 7% |
| Gold | Rs 5,000 to 19,999 | 9% |
| Platinum | Rs 20,000 to 49,999 | 11% |
| Titanium | Rs 50,000 and more | 14% |
The slab is set by your balance, so crossing a threshold matters: Rs 49,000 sits in the 11% slab, Rs 50,000 in the 14% slab. If the top rate applies to the whole balance, as the tier table suggests, Rs 100,000 kept for a year earns about Rs 14,000 before withholding tax and zakat. The top tier is called Titanium, not Diamond as older articles say. Rates change with the SBP policy rate, so check the current table in the app before you move money.
Fees: transfers, cash and cards
Sending money to another Easypaisa account is free, and Easypaisa charges no service fee for transfers to bank accounts via IBFT or Raast; only the small 1LINK network charge applies, Rs 1.55 below Rs 25,000. Cash is where costs add up. Agents follow the SBP fee slab, for example Rs 100 for a Rs 5,000 withdrawal and Rs 380 for Rs 25,000, while any 1LINK ATM charges a flat Rs 35. Our calculation: taking Rs 25,000 from an ATM with an Easypaisa debit card instead of an agent saves Rs 345 each time, and Digital Account holders pay nothing at Easypaisa branch counters. The debit cards cost Rs 1,000 for a physical Visa or PayPak card and Rs 500 for a virtual Visa card. Watch one trap: pulling money into Easypaisa from a linked bank account inside the app costs 2%, and funding with a card 3%, while pushing it from your bank's own app is free. The first three utility bills each month are free. How this compares with the main rival is covered in our JazzCash guide and in digital payments in Pakistan.
Easycash and other loans
Easycash gives small, paperless loans in the app, starting from a few thousand rupees with short tenors; the limit is set automatically from your transactions, bill payments and verification level. Easypaisa disbursed Rs 104.7 billion of digital loans in 2025. These loans are expensive: PACRA put the annualised yield on the loan book at about 139% in 2025, because short loans with weekly or monthly fees add up quickly over a year. SBP rules require lenders to show the annual percentage rate before you accept, cap total repayments at half of your net income, and ban collectors from harassing family members or using your phone contacts. The SBP also bars banks and wallets from serving unlicensed loan apps; our overview of loan apps in Pakistan explains which ones are authorised. Buy now, pay later for bills and shopping, and financing for merchants based on their QR collections, are newer products.
Safety and complaints
As a scheduled bank, Easypaisa is a member of the Deposit Protection Corporation, which since 1 October 2024 protects eligible deposits up to Rs 1,000,000 per depositor per bank. SBP rules put a two-hour hold on cash-out and purchases for newly received transfers in branchless banking to slow down stolen funds, and banks must compensate customers when losses result from their own delays in blocking accounts. Common scams include calls pretending to be Easypaisa staff, fake prize messages, fake payment screenshots and SIM swaps; if your phone suddenly shows no service, contact your mobile operator at once. Easypaisa never asks for your PIN, OTP or card details. Report a disputed transaction through the app's official support channel and keep the reference number. If it is not resolved, escalate to the SBP Sunwai portal and then to the Banking Mohtasib, which handled 35,130 new complaints in 2025. Online fraud can also be reported to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.
Check your Easypaisa savings slab before your balance crosses a threshold, because daily profit is set by the tier your balance falls into and crossing it changes the rate on the whole balance. Move only the working money you need for card spending to the wallet, and keep the rest where the deposit protection cap covers you fully. If you compare card offers, ask at the branch or in the app for the current fee schedule rather than relying on older articles. Our JazzCash guide shows the equivalent savings tiers at the main rival, so you can compare the two side by side.
